The Century 21 Exposition is best remembered for the creation of Seattle's Space Needle and Alweb Monorail. Much of what was created still exists today, including the United States Science Exhibit which is now the Pacific Science Center.
It is also remembered for Elvis Presley's movie, It Happened at the World's Fair.
2012 marks the 50th anniversary of the 1962 World's Fair. Naturally, that anniversary extends to the Space Needle, the Pacific Science Center, the monorail, and the Seattle Center area itself.
Not surprisingly, celebrations are underway this year looking back at the last fifty years while also looking forward. These celebrations are under the name The Next Fifty. They have a fantastic site where you can share your stories of the world's fair and read other people's contributions.
