Expo 2015 was held just northwest of Milan's city center under the theme "Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life." It was the first World Expo with a food theme.

Unlike previous expositions where smaller countries or countries with fewer resources were grouped together geographically, Expo 2015 created food-theme clusters that allowed countries to address various issues that are not necessarily bound by geography.
